Travel Information
Monday, February 25 is the suggested arrival day, as
the Seminar will start on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. The seminar will
end on Saturday with most participants departing Sunday morning March 3.
The airport
Linz provides connections mainly with Frankfurt, Düsseldorf,
Vienna, Zürich, and Brussels (daily) as well as with Amsterdam and
Paris. It is also possible to fly to Vienna and to continue by train (two
hours) to Linz (the bus running from the Vienna airport to the Westbahnhof
takes approximately 35 minutes).
Excellent railway
connections with all major cities in Central, Western and Eastern
Europe.
How to get from the train station to the conference site
By taxi
You will find a taxi in front of the main entrance of the railway station. From the main hall, take the escalator one floor up.
The costs are around 15 Euro.
By public transport
From the railway station, you may easily get by tram relatively close to the conference site. Trams leave every few minutes from below the main hall; be sure to take the direction "Universität". Take tram 1 or 2 and get off at "St. Magdalena". The trip takes 20 minutes.
From the St. Magdalena tram stop, you may continue by bus 101 to "Schatzweg". The bus leaves on weekdays every 30 minutes between 6.41 to 19.11 (except 9.41, 15.11). After getting off, walk along the street a little bit further and then turn right into Schatzweg; after a while, the conference site will be on your right.
The costs for a single ticket, called "Midi", are 2 Euro. A 24-hours ticket for Linz, called "Maxi", costs 4 Euro. A 7-days ticket, called "Wochenticket", costs 12,60 Euro. Tickets are valid in all buses and trams within Linz (except tram 50, the "Pöstlingbergbahn").
If you have to wait too long for the bus 101: the conference site is not very far from the tram stop. However, it is a steep walk.
